El Pasoan Celebrates Mother’s Day with At-Home Drive-In Theater
Mother's day hit a little different this year. Even though the state is in the process of reopening, social distancing was still encouraged which meant no gatherings, and our Mayor Dee Margo warned about going to Juarez to visit. This meant that people had to get creative with how they celebrated mom.
Some did beautiful drive-by parades with posters and flowers. Some, held virtual parties through Facetime or Zoom. But one El Pasoan decided to celebrate the mothers in his life a little different. Since drive-in theaters are thriving in Texas except here, Rick Car decided to set up his own at-home drive-in theater! In the comfort of their own cars (to abide by social distancing) Car's family members were treated to snacks and a special viewing of "A Celebration of the Music from Coco".
Rick Car is notoriously known for putting his projector to good use. If you remember, I was super bummed last year when I missed his "Haunted Mansion" light show for Halloween. This past Christmas season he debuted a "Happily Ever After" Christmas light show and invited the community to enjoy. Also, to lift his families broken hearts after their Disney trip had to be cancelled, Car debuted a "Disneyland Forever" light show that he made during his time in quarantine (talk about a good use of quarantine). My plans for Disneyland were also squashed because of the pandemic so it lifted my (and many others!) spirits up to see an El Pasoan creating something beautiful during this crazy time!
You can see more of Car's light shows here.
