At the beginning of the summer, I had complained that drive-in theaters were thriving across Texas, except here. Boy, did the Sun City prove me wrong. We've had some great options for drive in theaters lately. Sun City Carpool Cinema debuted back in June and has been showing some great films (check out this weekend's lineup here), they always have something for everyone. The Plaza Classic Film Fest went on tour this year instead of completely cancelling the event. Drive in theaters are not done in El Paso yet.

One of the locations for the Plaza Classic Film Fest has decided to continue the magic of movies and show nine more movies on the big screen! Hangar 7 Studios, located at 6600 Airport Rd., revealed their movie lineup for "Movies on the Fly" showcasing movies for the rest of August. This month they'll be showing:

  • Friday, August 14
    Ghostbusters
  • Saturday, August 15
    Nacho Libre
  • Sunday, August 16
    Moana
  • Friday, August 21
    The Karate Kid
  • Saturday, August 22
    Shrek
  • Sunday, August 23
    The Fast & the Furious
  • Friday, August 28
    Ferris Bueller's Day Off
  • Saturday, August 29
    Dazed & Confused
  • Sunday, August 30
    Sing

Tickets are $25 per vehicle (plus a service fee). Gates open at 7:30 P.M. each night and movie starts at 8:30 P.M. You'll want to get there early to get a good spot. One of the best perks about Movies on the Fly is you can take your own snacks (no alcoholic beverages, though)! You can find complete details, along with ticket information by clicking here. Drive in movies have easily become one of my favorite experiences. I've gotten the chance to check some out and it's so much fun! These are weird times we're living in, so might as well have some fun!
