Lechuza’s, Halloween and Karaoke on New ‘What the Buzz’ Podcast
We're back with a brand new episode of "What the Buzz" podcast. This new episode, sponsored by Coffee House of Hel, is available now and titled "The Owl Knocks Three Times". You can find the episode wherever you find your podcasts, and of course it's easily accessible through through KLAQ.com on the Listen Live feature.
Emily and I are back and we have a lot to unpack on this episode! First, did y'all know that we're in a pandemic? Well, we are and Emily is usually very good at updating our community on the latest COVID numbers- which have reached the 500's. Last week, the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, declared that bars in Texas could reopen, to which I say: THEY'VE BEEN OPEN! Under new guidelines, many bars were able to reopen by serving food.
This episode is not all a downer, though, I promise. We also get into the spirit of Halloween and Hispanic Heritage Month. To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, I wrote two articles about some creepy folklore that you may (or may not) have heard if you grew up with a superstitious abuelita. In "The Devil at the Baile", the story centers around a girl who defies her parents and sneaks out to go to a dance with her friends. Once there, the girl spends the entire evening dancing with the most handsome man there- only to discover that it is the devil himself.
While discussing the lore around "La Lechuza", Emily shares a creepy story involving a dark night and an owl perched outside her window. It may be a strange Halloween this year compared to others, which is why I decided to come up with a list of great Halloween movies that take place on Halloween- perfect for a Halloween night in!
