Only One Can Rule Thanksgiving: Pumpkin or Sweet Potato Pie
Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Between still trying to recover from Halloween and getting bombarded by Christmas decorations, it may feel like Thanksgiving gets put on the back burner. But the truth is, Thanksgiving is a great holiday! Sure everything it represents is awful, but it is a great excuse to get together with loved ones.
At Thanksgiving, people tend to make a big deal out of the turkey, it's the pièce de résistance of all Thanksgiving dinners. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of the mashed potatoes. At dessert, pie is the only way to go. Now, since the beginning of autumn, pumpkin has been everywhere! Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin spice cereals, pumpkin spice protein powder even pumpkin spice air fresheners! So it's no surprise that at dessert pumpkin pie is the star. I'd only had pumpkin pie up until last year when I got a slice of what I thought was pumpkin pie; plot twist- it was sweet potato! I couldn't even tell the difference, they basically tasted the same! Am I missing something? I know that pumpkin and sweet potatoes are two entirely different entities but in pie I couldn't be bothered to differentiate the two. Still, lots of people tend to choose one or the other, so tell me, which team are you on?
