A Texas Instagram model with 2.6 million followers was found strangled to death in her Richmond, Texas apartment on Sunday, August 29th, 2021.

Janae Gagnier, 33, AKA Mercedes Morr, was the victim of an apparent murder-suicide. Gagnier is followed on Instagram by "high profile individuals like Megan Thee Stallion and Snoop Dogg."

The man whose body was found at the scene is assumed at this point to be the murderer, 34-year-old Kevin Alexander Accorto from Florida, was found with self-inflicted multiple sharp force trauma.

According to KHOU11, there was no apparent relationship between the murderer at Gagnier:

"At this point in the investigation, it is not believed that there was a relationship between the suspect and the victim," police said. "At this point, this is being considered a murder/suicide and it is an ongoing investigation to determine motive in the case."

Just glancing at this tweet from Houston reporter Stefania Okolie, the term "crazed fan" comes to my mind, but that's pure speculation at this point. Why he was apparently allowed into her apartment is a mystery.

The bodies of Gagnier and Accorto were found after family members requested a welfare check. Gagnier's sister had seen her the previous Thursday, KHOU reported:

Gagnier's sister said she and her mom checked on Janae last Thursday and she was having "an amazing time."

"I’m so happy we said we loved you. I’m so happy I got to see your face one last time," the sister posted.

Tributes and expressions of sorrow and sympathy have since poured out on Gagneir's photos on Instagram, including many from celebrities in Houston and beyond.

Gagnier was stunningly beautiful, my heart goes out to her friends and family.
