Texas Has Passed New York in Number of COVID-19 Cases
The COVID-19 numbers can be difficult to wrap your head around some times. You can watch news channels and see total number of cases not know what the really means. Here is what you need to know about that. The number of cases were going to go up because we are testing more people. The numbers you really should be focused on are the hospital numbers in regards to ICU beds.
Texas recently passed New York for the most numbers of cases with 418,000. Dr. Martin Schwartz, who treats patients in intensive care units says:
It’s very hard. We’re seeing entire families in our communities ravaged by the virus. A lot of deaths inside one single family. It’s terrible.
The Rio Grand Valley has been a big hot spot in the state as hospitals have begun to run out of room. Again, if you only look at the positive cases, you aren't getting the full picture. Just look at the strain hospitals are under. Dr. Fredrico Vallejo, a critical care pulmonologist told CNN that he used to treat 15 to 20 people a day. He's now up to 70 patients he's treating per day.
Why are the numbers so high? Because of asshats like Texas Republican Louie Gohmert, who was very anti-mask. Well, he ended up testing positive. What does he blame for contracting COVID-19? That mask.
“I can’t help but think that if I hadn’t been wearing a mask so much in the last 10 days or so, I really wonder if I would have gotten it,” Gohmert added. “You know, moving the mask around, getting it just right, we’re bound to put some virus on the mask that I sucked in. That’s most likely what happened.”
Yup, that guy is a decision maker in the state of Texas.
